We are increasingly using Youtube as a business tool to add content to our websphere – I call this the websphere because we’re seeing that our website doesn’t just live alone, isolated in the web universe.  Our website needs extroversion – needs to play with others.

In comes social networking and web 2.0.  Using social networking tools like LinkedIn, Youtube, WordPress blogs, etc… we’re putting a new face to our website.

WordPress to help our clients understand us better and to provide additional value for them. YouTube for learning and advertising and getting our message out there; Twitter to let our customers know when there are important issues about our software or events they may want to come to; and Google to provide them with linkage into our community.  We can’t forget the ubiquitous LinkedIn, the most important business networking tool we’ve seen – ever.

Our main business is ERP integration but we face all the same business issues as any manufacturer – work orders, labour over runs, equipment maintenance, etc…  We just don’t have the grease that goes with it.  We still need to create business documents, communicate with our customers and vendors and above all we need to compete in a global economy.

Take a look at how your clients, business friends and networks can leverage your site and take a look at how you can join the www and contribute good information.

For more thoughts on this, email me and I’d be happy to discuss this further.
